Brooklyn Campus and Howard University Team up to Host Free Event

Business majors from colleges across the metropolitan area can tap into the expertise of top business professionals during a leadership seminar Friday, March 12, at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus.

The 5th Annual Leadership Skills Development Program for Business Students – We’re About Success! will be held at the Brooklyn Campus in the Arnold & Marie Schwartz Gymnasium in Metcalfe Hall (located at the corner of Flatbush and Dekalb Avenues) from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The free event is open to business students in and around New York City.

Learning the rules of the game, organizational culture, building support and alliances, ethics and creating a vision will be among the topics discussed during presentations conducted by professionals from various business fields.

The seminar is made possible by the School of Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus; the Center for Accounting Education at Howard University School of Business in Washington, D.C.; and the Maryland-based consulting firm Cook Ross, Inc. It is sponsored by the Hughes Foundation.

Brooklyn Campus alumnus Frank Ross, director of the Center for Accounting Education and a founding member of the National Association of Black Accountants, will moderate the event, along with Leslie Traub, president and CEO of Cook Ross, Inc.

“This program is designed to help young professionals identify the challenges, choices and opportunities that may impact their careers,” Mr. Ross explained. “It will guide business students towards success and leadership right from the start.”

Breakfast and lunch are provided. Space is limited and registration is required. Business casual dress is desired. To register, please contact Joan Pierre of the Brooklyn Campus’ School of Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences at (718) 488-1121 or
