Watson Fellowship this month. The three-year program offers paid summer internships, mentoring and enhanced educational opportunities to New York City undergraduates who demonstrate exceptional promise, outstanding leadership skills and commitment to the common good. The LIU Brooklyn winners are biology major Sebastien Delice, journalism major Sage Howard and political science major Navil Infante. Since 2000, 24 LIU Brooklyn students have received Watson fellowships. Art Prof’s Sculptures Featured in Book -  Sculptures that LIU Brooklyn Senior Professor Cynthia Dantzic crafted as a student at Yale University are featured in a new coffee table book that celebrates the distinctive art career of sculptor Robert Engman. Photos of 16 three-dimensional, rotating models crafted by Dantzic during a class taught by Jose de Rivera in 1954 are spread across 10 pages in the book, Robert Engman Structural Sculpture. Published by Nancy Schiffer, the book is available at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com Soccer Player Accepted to Prestigious Math Program -  Brice Merwine, a sophomore in the Honors Program and a forward on the men’s soccer team, has been accepted to and will attend the 2013 Summer Undergraduate Research Institute in Experimental Mathematics at Michigan State University Lyman Briggs College.  Funded by the National Science Foundation and National Security Agency, Brice of Carlisle, Pa., will receive a stipend, plus housing and meals. Fees and travel to conferences will also be provided. Brice was one of 15 students accepted into the program. At the completion of the program, he will attend a mathematics conference to present his research and findings.  LIU Brooklyn Music Program Concerts -  The students and faculty of the LIU Brooklyn Music Program in the Department of Performing Arts will present four days of music later this month. The LIU Chorus, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will be featured on Wednesday, April 24, at 7 p.m; the Instrumental Showcase will be Thursday, April 25, at 1 p.m.; and the Vocal Showcase will be Friday, April 26, at 1 p.m. All events are free and open to the public and take place in the Kumble Theater.
