Dr. Penn founded, in 1978, the Psychological Services Center of the Long Island
University Brooklyn Campus. The Center, which provides training for Ph.D.
students, offers free mental health treatment for LIU students. In addition
to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Penn continues to oversee the operation
of this clinic and serve as a liaison between the Center and the Department
of Psychology, as well as provide outreach services to the student body,
and supervise graduate students through both individual supervision (on a formal
weekly and informal, consultative basis) and student-faculty case conferences.
Research/Clinical Interests:
Psychodynamic/relational theories of personality and psychotherapy, psychotherapy
process, the impact of cultural issues and external variables on the psychotherapy
process, clinical supervision and clinical training issues.
