ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS


Samy M. Awad Annual Scholarship
Established by the Awad family in memory of Samy Awad `90, scholarships will be awarded to students in the professional program who have given back to their community and are in significant financial need. Preference will be given to students of the Coptic faith.

Robert Baker `81 & Alex Perchuk `87 Annual Scholarship
Established by Robert Baker `81 and Alex Perchuk `87 of Thriftway Services Corporation, scholarships are awarded annually, on the basis of financial need and academic ability, to students in years P-4 through P-6 who have a demonstrated interest in the entrepreneurial aspects of community pharmacy.

Josué Bruno Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established by Edith Bruno `76 in memory of her husband, a scholarship will be awarded to a student in years P-3 through P-6 on the basis of financial need, academic promise and an interest in community pharmacy. Preference is given to a student of Haitian-American descent.

Josué Bruno Annual Scholarship
Established by Vanessa Bruno `02 in memory of her father, a scholarship will be awarded to a student in years P-3 through P-6 on the basis of financial need and academic promise. Preference is given to a student of African-American descent.

Patrick J. Campbell Annual Scholarship
Established by Boris Natenzon `99 and Angela Bursuker Natenzon `98, a scholarship is named for Patrick J. Campbell, director of student & professional activities, and awarded to a pharmacy student who has established an exemplary record of service to fellow students and to the College.

Graduating Class Annual Scholarship
The graduating class traditionally raises scholarship funds to award to an outstanding student who has demonstrated leadership and service to the College.

CVS Annual Scholarships*
Multiple scholarships are funded by CVS Pharmacies, Melville Corporation, and are awarded each year.

Robert and Susan DiGregorio `96, P`01 Annual Scholarship
Established by Professor Robert DiGregorio and Susan DiGregorio `96, P`01, a scholarship will be awarded to a P-5 or P-6 student with an average of “B+” or better, who demonstrates leadership skills through active community service or participation in professional organizations. Candidates who hold an elected office in such organizations will be given preference.

 Hana Annual Pharmacy Scholarship
Established by Myeongha (Peter) Jo `97, a scholarship is awarded to a student on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Preference is given to a student of Korean descent.

John P. Hengartner Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established by Liesel B. Schumacher B`97, B`08 (M.A.), the assistant dean for administration at the College, in memory of her uncle, a scholarship is awarded to a pharmacy student in the Honors Program.

 Jewish Foundation for Education of Women Scholarship**
The Jewish Foundation for Education of Women (JFEW) provides scholarship support to full-time female pharmacy students who reside in one of the five boroughs of New York City, or within a 50 mile radius, and have a pre-professional GPA of 3.5 or above and a professional GPA of 3.0 or above. In order to be eligible for a JFEW scholarship, students must be a U.S. Citizen or green card holder and submit a FAFSA. Preference will be given to students who are émigrés of the former Soviet Union, Germany, Israel or who live in Midwood, Coney Island, Flatbush or Brighton Beach. Preference will also be given to students who are fluent in Hebrew, German or an Eastern European language.

Maimonides Annual Scholarship**
Maimonides Medical Center provides scholarship support to students interested in pursuing a career in hospital pharmacy. Priority is given to students who reside near the Maimonides Medical Center. Recipients are given part-time work opportunities, and upon graduation are expected to practice as pharmacists at Maimonides for a set period of time.

The Boris `99 and Angela `98 Natenzon Annual Scholarship
Established by Boris Natenzon `99 and Angela Bursuker Natenzon `98, a scholarship is awarded to a pharmacy student in years P-3 through P-6 on the basis of financial need and academic promise. Preference is given to a student of Russian-Jewish heritage.

Patrick O’Shea `80 and Betty-Jean Bocchino-O’Shea `89 Annual Scholarship
Established by Patrick O’Shea `80 and Betty Jean Bocchino-O’Shea `89, a scholarship is awarded to a student in the professional program on the basis of academic excellence and financial need. Preference will be given to students with an interest in community pharmacy.

The Patricia V. Panniccioli Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established by Anthony Panniccioli `73 in memory of his beloved wife, Patricia, a scholarship is awarded to a pharmacy student (P-3 through P-6) with a demonstrated interest in independent pharmacy and on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.

Irina `00 & Olga Pikovskaya Annual Scholarship
Established by Irina Pikovskaya `00, a scholarship will be awarded to a student in year P-3. Although not the sole criteria, preference will be given to applicants who are single women, fluent in an Eastern European language and have a dependent child or children.

Rite Aid Annual Scholarships*
Funded by the Rite Aid Corporation, a number of scholarships are awarded to students who are Rite Aid pharmacy interns and who have excellent communication and leadership skills.

Sheila Rosenberg Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established by friends of Robert Fuentes `83 (M.S.) in honor of Professor Jack M. Rosenberg `73 (M.S.), a scholarship is awarded each year to a student in years P-3 through P-6, on the basis of financial need and academic achievement.

Richard Schirripa `79 Madison Avenue Pharmacy Annual Scholarship
Established by Richard Schirripa `79, owner of Madison Avenue Pharmacy, an annual scholarship will be awarded to a student (P-3 through P-6) on the basis of financial need, good academic standing and an interest in community pharmacy.

Staten Island University Annual Scholarship**
Staten Island University Hospital provides scholarship support to students interested in pursuing a career in hospital pharmacy. Priority is given to students who reside near the Staten Island University Hospital. Recipients are given part-time work opportunities, and upon graduation are expected to practice as pharmacists at Staten Island University Hospital for a set period of time.

Howard Stein `59 Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established by Edward M. Frankel `58, president of Windmill Health Products, LLC., in memory of his classmate and business partner, this scholarship is awarded to a student in years P-3 through P-6, on the basis of financial need and academic ability.

Edward Stempel `49 Annual Scholarship
Established by Professor Emeritus Edward Stempel `49, and continued by his family in his memory, a scholarship is awarded to a student in years P-3 through P-6, on the basis of financial need and academic ability.

Steven Strauss `55 Annual Scholarship
Funded by Professor Emeritus Steven Strauss `55, `65 (M.S.), a scholarship is provided to a P-6 pharmacy student who is completing all academic requirements and who has significant debt to the University.

Walgreens Diversity Scholarship
Established by Walgreens Co., scholarships are awarded to students who have made significant efforts towards raising awareness or educating others about cultural competency and diversity related matters impacting the pharmacy profession. In addition, students must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and must not be a previous recipient of the scholarship.

Wal-Mart Scholarship*
Funded by Wal-Mart, a scholarship is awarded to a student with high scholastic standing and strong leadership qualities.

Yanushka Annual Scholarship
An annual scholarship is awarded to a student in years P-3 through P-6 on the basis of financial need and academic ability.

 

* These scholarships are awarded to students in years P-3 through P-6 based upon academic achievement and a demonstrated interest in pursuing entrepreneurial and management careers in community pharmacy.
