Dear New LIU Student,
I am delighted to welcome you to the LIU Community. I recognize that going to college is a new chapter not only in the lives of the students, but also in the lives of parents, relatives and friends of that student.
During New Student Orientation, we are here to help and direct you, answer your questions, address your concerns and learn from you. Our staff in First Year Programs sincerely believes that orientation is a process, is not merely an event. We have scheduled activities that will enable you to make a successful transition from high school to the university and families to get to know us. Our Orientation Program is designed to offer you insights and hands-on experience in attaining the information and skills you need to start off your college years in a positive and successful manner. Please take some time to explore our website and learn more about how First Year Programs will support you through your first few semesters at LIU.
New Student Orientation is your introduction to life at Long Island University. Participation in its many activities will give you a good foundation to begin your life on campus. I encourage you to engage fully in every facet: Convocation, Welcome Week, Seminars, Evening events and more. We have so much to offer and hope you take full advantage of these fabulous opportunities!
Please contact me should you have any questions. My door is always open. Once again welcome to the Blackbird family. I look forward to meeting you at Orientation!
