Farewell to New Yorker Films A local institution closed its doors last month. Dan Talbot's New Yorker Films, whom the New York Times calls "one of the most influential distributors of foreign and independent films," is going out of business after 44 years because its library of more than 400 titles is being sold. Rosselini. Bresson. Jia Zhangke. Chabrol. Yimou Zhang. Vigo. de Antonio. Wayne Wang. These are a few of the filmmakers whose work was distributed by this New York treasure. We are fortunate to have about forty titles from this renowned library, including the majority of our twelve films by the great Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembene.
