"Also, you'll find a pair of safety glasses and some earplugs under your seats. Please feel free to use them." --Max Fischer [Jason Schwartzman] Rushmore [1998] Schoolhouse Rock Hey all you cats n kittens, it's back-to-school time. Blackboard Jungle, in addition to being the prototypical new-teacher-in-a-tough-school movie, was also one of the first films to use rock and roll music effectively in the soundtrack, featuring 'Rock Around the Clock' by Bill Haley and the Comets. Since then, other new-teacher-in-a-tough-school movies have also relied on contemporary pop and rock to flavor their soundtracks. Sidney Poitier is the teacher of a class of students who have been expelled from other schools in To Sir, With Love. Edward James Olmos teaches math in the rousingly feel good movie Stand and Deliver, based on a true story. And Michelle Pfeiffer is a tough ex-marine turned inner city school teacher in Dangerous Minds.
