Media Center
Located
on the 5th floor of the LLC building, the Media Center
has a collection of 6000 videos, DVDs, laser disks, slides, audio
tapes, CDs, CD ROMs and multimedia kits for use by faculty and students.
We also have 15 viewing/listening stations, which can be used by
one or two people, and three classrooms that can be used for group
viewings, or can be reserved for classes.
The majority of our collections are catalogued in LIUCAT.
For directions on using LIUCAT
for media materials, please look here.
Our opening hours are posted here. You may reach the
Media Circulation Desk at (718) 246-6388.
Circulating
Collection
Items
in the circulating collection may be borrowed by any member of the
faculty or the student body with a valid LIU I.D. and a library
barcode (free at the Circulation Desk) Up to 3 titles may be borrowed
at a time, for a period of 3 days. The circulation of multi-volume
titles will be determined at the discretion of the Media Centre
staff. Overdue fines are $3.00 per day, per video.
Media
Reserve/Reference Collection
The
Media Center provides students with a place to review materials
used in class, and the Reserve/ Reference collection is meant to
ensure that these important curriculum materials are equally available
to all students at all times.
The
items in this collection are to be used in the library, in the Media
Center, for at most a few hours at a time. In order to ensure that
these materials are available to the students and faculty who need
them, it is necessary that the library strictly limit the out-of-library
circulation of these items.
For
a complete list of our Circulation
Policies, please look here.

Audio-Visual Department a week in advance. The AV Department is
located on the 3rd floor of the Pratt building. For
more information call the AV dept at ext.#1348 or 1279.
