Mission
Statement
Mission
Long
Island University Rockland Graduate Campus needs and deserves quality
library services. The Brooklyn Campus Library is the “parent” library,
responsible for providing library services and resources to Rockland
students and faculty. Our mission is to provide access to print
and electronic information sources to faculty and students at those
locations.
Goals
Our
primary goal is to provide the best service possible to our students.
To accomplish this, we plan to communicate on a regular basis with
the personnel responsible for the campus, as well as to visit the
campus periodically.
Objectives
· To
work with responsible personnel to insure that every student attends
a Library Instruction session.
· To
be proactive and "virtually” present through email, reference
chat, web pages and Interlibrary Loan forms.
·
To provide each and every student with library barcodes
(to request Interlibrary Loan materials or access off-campus
databases).
·
To work with all extension sites to help us improve
our user friendly approach (virtually and physically) and streamline
our online “Material Requests” forms.
Services
and Resources
Rockland
students and faculty can obtain books or articles by using the Book
or Journal Request Forms. If you experience any problems with these
forms, please contact us. Before submitting a request for a book,
please check LIUCAT,
the online catalog, to find out whether any LIU campus Library owns
the materials that you are requesting. In the event that none of
the Long Island University campuses would carry the material you
are requesting, we will attempt to obtain it through InterLibrary
Loan. Please click the links below for PowerPoint presentations:

InterLibrary
Loan Requests sent to the Brooklyn library will be processed as
quickly as possible, usually within 24 hours. Requested material
will be forwarded in an expeditious manner -- either by courier
or by fax, and may be picked up at the Reception Desk of the Westchester
Campus. Please be aware that the retrieving and shipping of the
non-electronic materials may take days or weeks, especially for
those items owned by another institution.
Please
read the LIU/Rockland
Library Guide by Peter Salber, Coordinator of Public Services
of the Brooklyn Campus Library.
