Social Work

  • The Social Work Program at LIU, Brooklyn Campus, is the first social work program in Brooklyn. It is a student friendly program within a university committed to the uplifting and celebration of each student's pursuit of "the educated life." The Program aims to produce highly skilled entry-level generalist practitioners who, upon graduation, are able to address the labyrinth of social problems facing individuals and populations at risk.

  • Studying social work at LIU offers the best of many worlds. While embracing the cultural diversity that is Brooklyn, the Program and the University as a whole pay particular attention to the individual needs of students in their educational goals. This includes highly individualized attention in planning the course of study, small classes taught by professional faculty (not graduate assistants), flexibility in class scheduling, and access to a variety of field placement sites from which students select the most enriching and convenient place for their internship.
