on the Athletics Field of Long Island University.
8:30a.m. - Gates open for the Admission of Guests
9:00 a.m.- Assembly of Procession
10:15 a.m. - Ceremony Begins
12:00 Noon - Ceremony Concludes
12:00 Noon - Reception Begins on Campus
1:00 p.m. - Various Deans' Receptions Begin*

General Attire : It is usual for men to wear dark clothes to keep in the mode of the academic attire. Women should not carry purses. Men remove caps during the Invocation, The National Anthem, and the Benediction. The tassel of the cap, for those receiving bachelor's degrees, is worn over the right corner of the cap. At conferring of degrees, it is moved to the left corner of the cap.
Commencement Video: Videos of the Commencement will be prepared by LIU-TV. If you are interested in purchasing videos of the Commencement please pull out the center insert, fill it out and return it with payment to a Student Life and Leadership Development representative at the Graduation Bazaar, or mail it with your money order to the address listed. Area Parking : It is difficult to find parking easily in Downtown Brooklyn; however, there are several parking facilities within close proximity to the school. ALL SUBWAYS CONVERGE IN THIS AREA.
Elderly and Infirm: Please ask ushers for directions to the special section for the elderly reserved on the field. Be sure to arrange a post-recessional meeting place with these guests.
Graduates or Guests with Disabilities: If you have a special accessibility need (e.g. wheelchair access, sign language interpretation, need for Braille, large print or recorded commencement program), please contact Diana Voelker at (718) 488-1533 by May 3, 2010.
Recessional : The Faculty will exit from the Athletics Field following the exit of the platform party. The marshals will leave the Athletic Field followed by the graduates.
Receptions: Immediately following the Commencement Exercises, at approximately midday, there will be a reception on the courtyard for graduates and their guests. This will be followed by the individual presentation of symbolic degrees to each student at a reception given by the dean of each respective School or College. Refreshments will be available.
