Hillel
Jewish Students Organization:
We would like to welcome you to the exciting world of Hillel -
the foundation of the campus Jewish community and Jewish Russian
Club of Long Island University.
About us
Hillel is the foundation of the campus Jewish community. From
our inception at the University of Illinois in 1923, we have grown
into the largest Jewish campus organization in the world with
foundations and affiliates in the United States, Canada, Israel,
Australia, Europe and South America. The Hillel network brings
to the college world all the richness and diversity of Judaism
and Jewishness. Its historical commitment to a pluralistic community
encourages intellectual challenge and growth. Hillel maintains
a presence on over 400 campuses, and is in the vanguard of those
who are determined to build a fuller and stronger Jewish people
in the 21st century.
Hillel cooperates with a vast array of Jewish organizations to
bring to campus the broadest range of exciting opportunities for
Jewish involvement, including social, educational, cultural and
religious programming.
Hillel: A Place for Everyone.
Jewish students of all backgrounds - secular and religious, former
Soviet and Iranian Jews, Ashkenazim, Sephardim, and Jews with
no affiliation at all - come to know each other through Hillel:
together they create a campus Jewish community that reflects their
own interests and needs.
No matter what are their interests, students can find a way to
become involved with Hillel.
We know your needs, better than any one else:
We can help you with everything in your student life. No one knows
it better than us.
Look at the following situations. They might sound familiar.
You need more money for college because grants and subsidized
loans are not enough.
You need a scholarship, but your grades are not so good. What
to do ?
Answer is simple - come to Hillel. We will help you. We can give
you a scholarship for up to $ 4,000
per year, just because you are Jewish and you need it, no matter
what your grades are.
That is not all. This is just a beginning. How about this
You found a credit card bill in your mailbox. It is too high and
payment is due soon. You don't have enough money to pay it. Or,
maybe, you want to buy a new car, but no one seems to give you
a credit. Don't worry. We can help you with that. All you need
to do is to come to us and fill out an application for the interest
free loan for up to $ 5,000. You will have two years to repay
what you have borrowed without interest or any fees. It is like
borrowing money from a good friend.
When it comes to fun, trips and adventures - there is no one equal
to us!
