minor errors and typos usually will not undermine one's score
on the writing assessment, an accumulation of errors or errors
that begin to distract the reader can cause damage.
Remember, the essays are scored holistically, so if if weakness
in one area (like mechanics and grammar) is serious enough
to begin to affect other areas (paragraphing and content),
a candidate's score will drop.
When budgeting your
time to write the LAST essay, allow yourself to about 10 minutes
to review what you've written. If you know your common
writing weaknesses, focus on them (subject-verb agreement,
pronoun referents, commas, etc.), but otherwise consider using
the editing techniques suggested in the following pages:
