What does a Paralegal do?
Paralegals play integral roles in companies both large and small. Public agencies, private law firms, sports franchises, entertainment companies, not for profits and many more business sectors rely on the knowledge and expertise of a trained Paralegal.
Paralegals are routinely called upon to interview clients, conduct legal research, prepare court documents such as pleadings and motions, assist in preparation of depositions and court proceedings, conduct business with attorneys, the courts, and government agencies, including law enforcement, prepare and draft wills, leases, contracts as well as documents in connection with forming various business entities (e.g., partnership, corporation, LLC).
Paralegals assume much of the work once considered the sole province of attorneys; work that requires discretion, independent judgment, strong writing ability, and an analytic approach to organizing and reviewing material. However, it is important to note that P aralegals may not provide legal service directly to the public except as permitted by law.
