Nanette Fuentes joined the staff of the Office of Institutional Advancement
at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University in February 2001, assuming
the newly-created position of Development Coordinator, which replaced the position
of Coordinator of Government and Community Relations. She has since been given
the position of Community Relations Coordinator.
In her capacity as Community Relations Coordinator, she represents the University
at local community organization meetings in an effort to inform the local community
of events, programs and initiatives offered. In addition, she assists the departments
Grants Coordinator with researching possible funding sources that may assist
the University in continuing and initiating its ever growing curriculum.
Nanette brings to us a broad range of experiences in the development and higher
education fields, including, nearly four years as Endowment Campaign Coordinator/Office
Manager at the Department of Planning and Development of the Brooklyn Academy
of Music (BAM). Prior to her tenure at BAM, Nanette managed the Bronx Institute
of Lehman College/CUNY, which offers Bilingual Education certification courses
for elementary school teachers. She began her career in higher education in
1992 at Baruch College, where she was Assistant to the Associate Provost and
the Director of the Skills Immersion Program. Nanette holds a B.A. degree from
Hunter College, is fluent in Spanish and possesses a wide array of technology
skills.
