“As the soil, however rich it may be, cannot be productive without cultivation, so the mind without culture can never produce good fruit.” These words by the first-century Roman philosopher, Seneca, characterize our belief that cultural pursuits are vital enrichments for our community. A treasure trove of cultural events can be found at the Brooklyn Campus, where art exhibitions, film festivals, special lectures, dance, music and theater performances are open to members of the entire community.
These exhilarating programs often are offered free or at a low-cost admission.
The Campus recently completed a spectacular new arts complex that includes the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts, the sleek glassenclosed Humanities Building Gallery, a black box theater for smaller and experimental performances, and dance, theater and music rehearsal rooms. These new facilities expand the vibrant cultural resources of downtown Brooklyn and amplify Campus contributions to the community.
