SOLID FOUNDATIONS
America Reads
The goal of the America Reads program is to “help ensure that every American child can read well and independently by the end of 3rd grade.” Thousands of community residents of all ages, from pre-kindergarten to adult, have honed their reading skills with help from Brooklyn Campus graduate and undergraduate students who have participated in this incredibly worthwhile initiative. Since 1997, students in this federally funded workstudy program have provided tutoring services at dozens of sites across the borough, while gaining hands-on experience in community service.
For information, contact Sarah Noel at (718) 780-4349. There is no charge for the America Reads program, which is open to any individual served by a registered community center or school.
